Pistacia Vera

i visited one of my best friends recently in columbus (just 2 hours north of cincinnati) and it became a foodie weekend! wait, wait, let me correct that, it was a dessert-ie weekend!

one of our stops was Pistachia Vera in the German Village. Their specialties are their macarons , a french version of the macaroon, that is filled with cream, and come in many many flavors. obviously, pistachia vera’s bestseller is their pistachio macaron, but unfortunately, they were already out of it when we got there.

aside from the macarons, they also serve a variety of different pastries, cookies, cakes, pates de fruits, tarts, tortes and confections. it really is bad to go to a place like this with an empty stomach, or a sweet tooth! we ordered pastries, cookies and macarons to try while there, and left with a box of 4 different slices of cakes and some cookies.  i dont understand how anyone can resist!

my favorites have to be the almondine, lime and ginger cookies, apricot almond dacquoise and pistachio strawberry dacquoise – maybe i just like to say dacquoise!. and the macarons, not that i’ve tried many, have to be the best that i’ve tasted. the cookie is soft and fluffy, like a cake.

this place is definitely a must when i go back.
