so many places, so little time. with the holidays and friends and family visiting, we’ve not had the time to share one of our favorite restaurant experiences from 2010. chubs and i were heading to watch a performance at the know theatre and needed to find a place to eat. the bistro fit the bill perfectly.
we were greeted with some fresh bread – tasted like it was fresh out of the oven. for starters, we ordered the soup of the day which was a lobster bisque with quinoa, and then the roasted bone marrow. while waiting for our soup and appetizer, we almost finished the whole basket!
(above L: fresh bread and butter; above R: lobser bisque with quinoa)

the soup was perfect with the quinoa adding just the right texture to the amazing flavor of fresh lobster flown in from the east coast. as for the bone marrow, it was like butter! paired with a sweet shallot jam, we had enjoyed it so much, we even had to order extra bread. the extra sprinkle of salt on top sealed the deal.
(above L: sweet shallot jam and porchini salt over toast; above R: leg of lamb with spaetzle)
(above: bistro burger with local candied bacon and white cheddar)
we ordered the leg of lamb with spaetzle and beurre blanc as well as the bistro burger. the bistro sources most of their meats and vegetables locally and the quality of the ingredients show in the flavors of their dishes. the lamb was done to perfection and slathered in a decadent beurre blanc. the dish was elevated by the unexpected taste and texture of the spaetzle. the bistro burger is one of the top 5 burgers i’ve had in the city. paired with duck fat fries which were super crunchy and picked okra, it was really was the perfect dinner. as usual, we ended up eating too much and didnt have room for dessert. oh well, there’s always next time.
